Frequently Asked Questions

Camps and Clinics

Who are the coaches teaching at your camps and clinics?

During the 2025-26 school year (Fall/Winter/Spring), Paly Tennis Camp offers weekday afternoon and weekend training clinics to prepare juniors for level development and tournament matchplay. These clinics are led by some of the most experienced, former ATP Pro coaches in the Bay Area.

During the summer, most of the assistant coaches are members of the Paly Boys and Girls Tennis Team who are experienced and highly competitive high school players, coaching under the supervision of Paly Tennis Head Coach Andy Chang. Student coaches undergo curriculum, stroke techniques, communications and safety training prior to coaching.

For summer camps, can we sign up for fewer than 5 days per week?

Yes, when registering for summer camp, you have the option to select specific single dates to attend. The fee will be for per day instead of per week.

Can I drop off my kid earlier for camp/clinic or pick up later?

We will be at the tennis courts 10 mins before and after camp and clinic sessions hours to set up and take down/clean up. Our staff is happy to supervise your child during this period. However, if you need longer supervision, please contact us for more details.

What is your cancellation policy?

If your plans change, we are happy to refund part of the fees that you’ve paid based on the following schedule:

If you cancel at least 3 weeks before the session: 80% refund

If you cancel at least 2 weeks before the session: 70% refund

If you cancel at least 1 week before the session: 60% refund

If you cancel less than 1 week before the session: 50% refund

How do you better prepare the players for high school team tennis?

There is a lot of doubles match playing both during tryouts and once you make a high school team, but typical tennis camps and clinics rarely teaches students how to play doubles. This focus on the net game and doubles is one of the key things that makes our program unique.

During the summer camp, our week-long curriculum includes simulated tryout process (footwork drills, rally games, doubles round robin) and inter-school team matchplay. We cover doubles strategy, extensive skills development at the net (volleys, overheads) and specialty doubles shots such as approach shot, moonballs and lobs. We also cover many of these concepts during our Fall/Winter/Spring sessions.
